What is an Emergency Dental Appointment?

Our Emergency Dentist in Collingwood is dedicated to making any emergency dental appointment a priority, which often includes getting the patient in to see a dentist the same day. An Emergency Dental appointment is typically scheduled when a patient is in immediate need of dental care. This means the patient is usually experiencing a high level of discomfort, pain, swelling, bleeding, and infection, among other symptoms listed below.

At Collingwood Family Dental, our team makes Dental Emergencies a priority. If you’re in pain, do not hesitate to call our office immediately to schedule an appointment with an Emergency Dentist in Collingwood

If you are trying to reach us outside of office hours, and are experiencing a severe dental emergency in Collingwood, please consider calling other dental clinics in the area (or larger areas such as Barrie) that may be open and able to see you. Dental Emergencies can be extremely dangerous and may require a visit to the Emergency Room if you are not able to find an immediate appointment with a Dentist in Collingwood

What Happens During a Dental Emergency Appointment?

At Collingwood Family Dental, any Emergency Dental Appointment will be completed by our General Dentists, as they are trained extensively in Emergency Dental examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning. During the appointment, your dentist will check your existing symptoms, find the root cause of the problem, and provide treatment options to address your symptoms and the root cause.

In some cases, our dentists may be able to perform the required treatment at the very same appointment or even later that day. However, there is also the possibility that you will need to come back to our Collingwood Dental Clinic for treatment to fix any underlying issues.

How Much Does an Emergency Dental Appointment Cost?

An examination appointment with an Emergency Dentist in Collingwood typically costs between $75 and $150. This does not include the cost of X-Rays, any other dental services, or any recommended dental treatment. Emergency Dentistry is not a specifically designated dental specialty but is performed by General Dentists across Ontario.

Our dentists at Collingwood Family Dental will do their best to provide options for same-day treatment, but will possibly have to reschedule any required treatment for another available day. However, they will make sure to address the Dental Emergency and provide a prescription for any required medications (depending on your unique medical history and oral health conditions).

At Collingwood Family Dental, our Emergency Dental fees are in line with the Ontario Dental Association’s Suggested Fee Guide for the current year. These fees are subject to annual updates by the Ontario Dental Association.

Is There Treatment Done at an Emergency Dental Appointment?

The purpose of an Emergency Dental Appointment is to make sure the patient is safe and out of pain. At an Emergency Dental Appointment, our dentist will perform an Examination, and possibily prescribe x-rays, before providing a diagnosis and treatment options. It’s then up to the patient which treatment option to move forward with, if any at all.

As an Emergency Dentist in Collingwood, we do our best to see patients within 48 hours (during the week). If time permits, our dentist may be able to perform treatment the very same day.  However, in most cases, an Emergency Dental Exam is performed before scheduling back for any necessary treatment or a referral to a specialist.
